Welcome to Basecamp!

disneyparade.jpgHello. I'm Gina-Lynne Scharoun from Value Place. I'm pleased to be the first person from our team to greet you from Basecamp.

Why are we blogging? Well, Value Place is all about cost, cleanliness, safety and all the other attributes we like to brag about. But there is so much more that a brochure can't capture. Just ask our customers. We are hearing amazing stories about our guests, their experiences and lives, and we see this blog as a place to share those stories.

Our guests use Value Place as basecamp for all sorts of reasons. Many are facing a job change or transfer, some have checked in so they can be close to a loved one during an illness. Some guests are visiting the Happiest Place On Earth and spending some quality time with our favorite mouse, like my family did on our latest vacation.

From the disaster of a fire or illness, to having a comfortable place to stay for a long business engagement, to the realization of a dream vacation, our customers have taught us the true meaning of "life's basecamp," which is the theme of our new blog.

Do you have a topic you think we should address? Click below and post a response, let us know what you're thinking.

Do you permit animals (that are potty trained) and smoking?

Do you happen to have a grand opening date for the Value Plus location in Las Cruces, NM?

Posted by: Stefano Carrillo on October 18, 2007 at 10:41 PM

Value Place's toll-free reservation line is 800-ValuePlace. Thanks for your inquiry.

Thanks for your inquiry about Value Place's pet and smoking policies. Value Place does not allow pets at any of our extended-stay hotels. We do have smoking rooms available.

I have used Value Place multiple times with great experiences each time. The cost is always right and the safety and cleanliness is second to none.

I have stayed in the Panama City, Tallahassee, and the Montgomery locations. All are top notch lodges.

Will you be opening a Value Place at Naples, Fla or Ft. Meyers, Fla in the near future? Or anywhere else on the West Coast of Fla?

I recently stayed in the Panama City location. The gentlemen who checked me in, Gary Foldi was outstanding. He was cheerful and informative. The property was very clean. He knew the guest by their name. Another great experience. Thank you Value Place!!!

Posted by: Mike Hart on November 13, 2007 at 8:55 PM

The fact you dont except pets is a big NO NO. I will be moving to the Tallhassee area soon and was thinking of staying at Valueplace for at least a month during my transition. You just lost a customer because of your pet policy.

Last week (November 12, 2007) a guest at the Ankeny, Iowa Value Place lost his wallet. He didnt think he lost it at the hotel, so he did not report it to anyone there. The Night Attendant at the hotel found the wallet. It had a sizable amount of cash and numerous credit cards, ID, etc, in it. The Night Attendant checked the guest registry and matched it to a guest, then proceded to call the guest and tell him he had the wallet and would keep it safe until the guest could return for it. As a token of his appreciation, the guest gave the employee a $50 tip.

It makes me very proud to be associated with an organization that has such honest and caring employees. Hats off to this employee! He did not do this for the tip. He did this because it was the right thing to do.

Hi! I was wondering what is the nearest value hotel if I we want to go to Disneyland Florida? Also, can you accommodate 2 adults with 4 children ages 6-12? We would love to stay in one room! Thanks!

when will the site open on University Dr NW in Huntsville AL?
I know you have one already out of town but the University Dr location is just down the street from my home office. I visit Huntsvile regularly and have been staying at one of your competitors but thier quality has declined in the last year or so. Looking forward to giving VP a try.

A bit tight on funds, I decided to give ValuePlace a try. I have to say that I'm impressed. I have a quiet, clean room with a full kitchen for about the same price as the Econo Lodge, Motel 6, Super 8, or TravelLodge, and this is much, much better. I was actually dreading this trip because I didn't want to have to stay in one of those dumps again. The only thing I haven't figured out is how I will iron my clothes tomorrow morning.

Sorry to hear that a well behaved apartment cat cannot stay at Value Place. Until I read that on your website, it seemed like the perfect solution for my relocation.
